CALGARY UNITED FROM CANADA 2002 'FUN CUP WINNERS

New
Zealand's south island city of Dunedin turned on it's lights and
welcomed the teams for the fifth World Fun Cup.
The marchpast was a colourful display of all teams
represented that had travelled from around the World and locally
to put on a show that would leave a lump in any diehard soccer fan's
throat.

The main stadium, venue for the opening ceremony was a picture and
had participating players eager to display their talents on such
a magnificient ground.
With the special delivery of the official 'Fun Cup' Banner into
the stadium by a team of local skydivers the ceremony was under
way and spectators were treated to an exhibition match between 'Europe'
and 'The Rest of The World'.
The 'Europe' squad was chosen by the respected and well known ex-international
coach Heinz Werner and local coaching identity Graeme (Squib) Foster
had the duty of selecting the 'Rest of the World' team.
The crowd pleasing opener saw an exciting first half where the skills
of both sides were evident. The second half was dominated by the
Europeans who closed the match by winning 7 goals to 2.
The fields of the Logan Reserve were in tip-top
condition considering the threat of inclement weather that had preceeded
the Festival a week earlier.

and the Happy Vogtlanders, Third placegetters
in the Fun Cup.
Bank Leomi from Israel were the winners
of the Over 35 division
and Team San Diego from USA who took
on Trad Zwickau
in the
Over 45's
final to take out
the honours in that division.

Women's Entry
This
year was a special event for SOSI in so much as it received Its first
entry of a womens squad made up of girls from New Zealand, Hawaii,
USA and Australia.The
girls played in the Over 45's division and were welcomed
in to the tournament by all participating teams and joined in with
the Supa Oldie spirit of
Fun
and Friendship on and off the park.
There was no mistaking the presence of Sally Hicks and her gals when
it came to 'Partying' at the Karoke evening.








The Opening Party and Awards Night were a huge success with
the beer and wine flowing freely....
the music was non stop.
Glenmore Park's contribution to this years event
couldn't go unnoticed with the talented Lofty O'Connor as MC at
the Karoke Evening (above left) and the colourful and
outrageous, John McGrath, (middle) being the winner
of the 'Best Dressed Award',
The Feastival also had the added distinction of hosting its first
wedding. The couple from Canada, Steve MCAtee and wife SheriI
Blakeman, (above right) shared their celebrations with everybody
at the Karoke evening.
The
Trip to the Taeri Gorge on the Thursday Fun Day out was a spectacle
that had the cameras out taking in the awesom canyon views.
