IFA Hotels World Fun Cup

Vogtland, Germany this May/June and was an undeniable
success. 28 over 35 and 9 over 45 teams participated in the
4th WFC which proved to be the most exciting held to date.
Our
host Thomas Jahn - General Manager of the IFA Ferienpark Hotel, Schöneck
and
his staff (IFA Hotels were the major sponsors for the Festival ) ensured
that all our International guests were made very comfortable in this
marvellous resort. The hotel is situated high up looking out over
magnificent farmland and rolling hills. The area is a major cross
country ski resort during the winter months and is a must see for
all visitors to Germany. Teams and supporters came from Germany, Belarus,

The WORLD FUN CUP was won
by the ISRAEL LEAGUE TEAM who were
runners up in the over 35 division and winners in the Fun and Fellowship

Worthy runners up were FC Hansa Rostock – Hansa’s Oldies who
were lead by the wonderful Thomas Strehlow

OVER 45 were the amazingly talented men from the UKRAINE. The writers
“Goal

supremos. The runners up in over 35’s were the Israel League Team and
previous WFC over 45 division winners FSV Zwickau from Germany kept
the Ukraine champions playing at their best in the over 45's.

man who made most things happen during the festival) and the Team Organisers,
37 great men who ensured their teams arrived and participated on time
all week.
Special mention goes to George Corall, Dieter Usemann, Karl Remitz/Michael
Braun, Brian Giblin, who have attended all 4 of the World Fun Cups.

including the Supa Oldies banner signed by many of the participants, was
presented to Dmitri Gorodetsky the Ukraine Team Manager.
This Memorabilia
will be displayed
in a musem for soccer 'Oldies' presently under construction in Kiev
in the Ukraine
dedicated
to Victor Dukov.
The
Opening Party and Awards Night were a huge success with the beer and
wine flowingfreely
and the traditional German fare provided in abundance by Mario, Kirstin
and their hard working team. The
music was non stop and so was the dancing if that is what you call
the gyrations performed by the Israelis and the likes of Ferenc Nagy
of Color Zalaegerszeg and the blond groover from ESV Einigkeit Hamburg.
What a job it was getting everyone on the buses at the end of each
night....... How exciting was the ski jumping display put on by the
German Junior Team on the Fun Day Wednesday.......Football seemed
easy after this.
The last official duty
was the handing over of the Supa Oldies flag to Dave Lamont of the Dunedin
Highlanders who extended an invitation to everyone to meet up in DUNEDIN,
NEW ZEALAND in January 2002 for the next Supa Oldies World Fun Cup.
